Mrs Rushton is our amazing Head Teacher. She came highly recommended and has dazzled us with her enthusiasm, exciting ideas, boundless energy and a rather impressive collection of shoes.Describe yourself in five words: Happy, optimistic, calm, creative, compassionate.

Favourite book? Children’s book – The Northern Lights trilogy by Philip Pullman. Adult’s book – A Star called Henry by Roddy Doyle. It made me smile, laugh and cry: an incredible story.

If you had to be trapped on a tv show for a month, what would it be? It definitely has to be Question Time. I love the high drama and emotion of political debate and seeing how people feel so passionately about making a difference to our world. I have been known to tune into the BBC Parliament Channel on occasions … and when election time comes I am in my element!

Mrs Rushton is our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), Designated Safeguarding Lead, Curriculum leader and leads developments in teaching and learning across the school.

                                                                                                                                              

 

Miss Smith joined our school in September 2015 and is the full time teacher of the Owls class.

What makes you happy? Walking Rosie, my dog

 

Mr Wilkinson is the full-time teacher of the Hawks class. He is our very own Jose Mourinho – inspiring our teams of children playing football, rugby and cricket with good tactics, good team-talks and good humour.

Describe yourself in five words: Bradford City fan for life.

Favourite book? Getting Rich with Jeremy James by David Henry Wilson – a humorous look at how a young boy views the world.

If you had to be trapped in a tv show for a month, what would it be? Top Gear – all those cars to drive and an empty airfield - heaven!!

Mr Wilkinson is our Healthy Schools Subject Leader, with particular responsibility for PE. He also leads Science and Technology, including overseeing e-safety, and contributes to the Maths team.

 

Ms McKenzie is the teacher in the Kestrels class - our mad scientist, drama queen and all round ball of energy. She can often be seen donning fancy dress to inspire our learning. (She's a bit talented in track-suit and trainers too!)

Describe yourself in five words: Friendly, caring, energetic, competitive and conscientious.

Favourite book? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

What makes you happy? Travelling to exotic places with my family.

Ms McKenzie organises the Year 2 Young Leaders, contributes to the Healthy Schools team and is our Maths subject leader.

 
Mrs Turner is the teacher of the Eagles for four days each week. She is keen, enthusiastic, an eco-Queen and very Welsh!

Describe yourself in five words:A bit of a nag’ (according to Mr Turner and the Turner children!).

Favourite book: My favourite story is ‘The Happy Prince’ by Oscar Wilde. I have read it to my children countless times and it never fails to move me to tears.

Most oft-used phrase: ‘I’ll be over by there now in a minute’ (see also ‘whose coat is that jacket?’ and ‘I’ll just put this doodah on the thingie’).

Mrs Turner is Early Years subject leader. She’s also keen on outdoor learning.
 

 

Mrs Sollis is the school business manager. She can be found in the school office ordering pencils, organising exciting trips, counting money, talking on the phone and – most importantly – giving out stickers.

Describe yourself in five words: Optimistic, sociable, cheerful, friendly, adaptable.

Favourite book: Turning Point by Freya North – brilliant!

What makes you happy? Sunshine, bluebells, Mrs W’s cappuccinos, live music, days out with friends, boat trips, Tottenham winning and all things Cornish.

 
Mrs Wilkinson is another staff member with a variety of roles. She is the Teaching Assistant in the Hawks class, administers the school meals payments and is Assistant SENCO. A very organised individual!

Describe yourself in five words: Loves to make and bake.

Favourite book? I have always got a book on the go but if there is nothing about I will return to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice – I probably read it every year!

Singing or dancing? Dancing.

Mrs Wilkinson is also assistant SENCo and the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

 

Mrs Amos is the Teaching Assistant in the Kestrels class and is in charge of Kites after school club – a versatile lady! She also drives the minibus!

Describe yourself in five words: Flexible, fun, fair, approachable, want-to-be-Welsh!

Favourite book? Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien.

If you were an ice cream flavour, what would you be? Vanilla - plain and simple!

Mrs Amos trains and organises our Playground Patrollers (peer mediators) and also supports the Year 5 Young Leaders. She also has responsibility for collating behaviour logs throughout the school.

 

Mrs Carter is a Teaching Assistant in the Eagles class - as well as helping in the other classes too. A lovely, understanding lady who is always willing to give second chances.

Describe yourself in five words: Approachable, fair, grounded, loves laughing.

Favourite book: The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis.

Favourite song from the soundtrack of your life? Up, Up and Away in my Beautiful Balloon by The Fifth Dimension reminds me of when I was a little girl.

 

 

 

Mrs Boulton is the Teaching Assistant  in the Owls class.

Describe yourself in five words: Tries anything, mainly eats crisps.

Favourite book: I loved reading all the Harry Potter books to my girls.

What makes you happy: Being with my family.

Favourite sandwich filling: Cheese - spread/sliced/grated - any type, but just cheese.

Mrs Pedoe runs our Kites Breakfast Club.

What makes you happy? Spending time with my family and my dog, especially on holiday

Mrs Stanton has had a long association with our school dating back to when she was Play leader at Avening Playgroup. She assists Mrs Amos in Kites.

What sound do you love? Birdsong.

 

Mr Rymer is a Play Team member and often helps us out by doing odd jobs around the school.

Mrs Hutton is a member of the Play Team - kind, caring and always smiling!

Mrs St-John Smith is part of the Play Team - cheerful and energetic, she enjoys playing games with the children.

Mrs Dyer is part of the Play Team. She also plays a vital role in school performances by recording the shows.

Mr Bond is our School Crossing Patrol person. He is out in all weathers ensuring everyone can cross the road safely to and from school. During the winter months he wears a special flashing harness which brightens everyone’s day!

Favourite book: Any book about World War II.

What makes you happy? Barbara, my wife.

Mrs Woodman is a member of the Play Team. She also assists Mrs Amos with Kites after school club.
