Avening Primary School

Home Learning

The staff are back in school full-time teaching the children in EYFS, Year 1, Year 6 and the children of Key Workers. However, we are keen to continue to support the children at home too. From June 2020, there are some small changes to the format of this work in the packs emailed to parents. These are as follows:

  • EYFS – For the children not attending school, Miss Ellis will email you her plans directly, so that, as far as possible the children will be able to follow the learning that their peers in school are also doing
  • Y6 – Miss Smith will email ideas directly
  • For children in Years 1- 5, we will be sending a weekly timetable of lessons. We have made a decision to draw on some of the excellent online lessons that have been provided for this purpose by the Oak National Academy. The timetable will contain some links to online lessons which can be watched on a computer or iPad. Each day there will be reading, English, maths, spellings and a topic lesson – but as always, we are happy for you to be flexible and structure your time to suit your family. The timetables will be emailed to you on a Friday, ready for lessons the following week.

We will continue to provide you with Mrs Carter’s Forest School ideas which I know that many of you have enjoyed.

Teachers are still keen to see what is happening with your child’s learning at home and we will continue to welcome photographs and feedback from home, although may not be able to respond to you immediately.

In addition, the teachers will also continue to phone all of the children who are not attending school each week to check on progress and well-being. If you need to, please email the class teachers and we will do our best to support you.
