Remembrance Day

The school community came together to show respect on Remembrance Day. First, everyone learnt about the lives of some of the men from Avening who were killed during WWI. They learnt about where they lived, other members of their family and the jobs they had before the war started. Then, everyone gathered at the Millennium Cross to hold a respectful silence at 11am. Year 6 pupils read out the names of the fallen soldiers while the School Council placed a wooden cross on the ground for each name. Everyone demonstrated great respect throughout the ceremony.
